My old one wasn't much, a Sony 5 meg, jusst went AFU... I would like something that would suffice nicely for general photo as well as Macro, not too complicated... As Adam said many many years ago, I don't want to give an arm and a leg for it, what could I get for just an arm?

What's your budget? My camera isn't much. 4 years old or so 4 megapixel Canon G2. Beat up and scrached up.
Personally, for the most faithful color, I'd pick a Canon. For best macro, I'd pick Nikon. For fastest focusing, I'd pick Olympus. For best optical zoom (20x) I'd pick the new Panasonic with Leica lens.
Personally, I will stick to Canon.

I have read a lot of happy owners of the Fuji F10 on another forum. Have not tested it myself yet. but the picture quality seems to be something totally new to a compact camera. Here is a link to a review by a friend, and a great photographer, Ming Thein www.ming-group.com/You will find the review in the resourches/articles part, but the pictures is well worth a look too And to read about any camera you like, I would suggest dpreview www.dpreview.com/Cheers Jon

Choppersdad, i own 2 FujiFilm camera's. Fujifilm finepix S5500 and my new one finepix S9500, the S5500 has 10x zoom, 4 megapixels.. , S9500 10,7x zoom (21,4 total zoom), 9 megapixels. And best of all those camera's work on just AA batteries! Yes AA batteries, no Lithium Ion battery that they will discontinue after a year, when your battery is broken. With 1 set rechargable AA batteries you can take 400 photo's. Exellent Macro functions (2) Fujifilm is superb, and at a very nice price. (i don't like lithium ion, they always change "in shape" with every type of camera. AA is the way to go and you will find them everywhere and much cheaper) If you want AA battery capable, buy FujiFilm, if you don't, buy the other brands. (Only Fujifilm does) Think different

I've heard good things about Fuji as well, and they are well priced. If I was just going to shoot watches, I'd buy a Nikon Coolpix. I differ from Chip in that I think the colour is more accurate with Nikon (I've used both Nikon and Canon for watch pics), at least compared to the Canon 300D I was using. I love the colour with my new 5D, but that one is both arms and both legs

Chopps, I am with worktolive on the Nikon 4600, I have one and I really like it, the macro is very nice and it takes great non-watch pics of scenery, vacation, whatever. Its small enough to fit anywhere and its very easy to use, its got about everything a person who wants something that will take amataeur watch pics and is a versatile all around camera would want. the best part is my 4600 cost me $150

Boat load of bucks, but I really wanted the full frame. At least it's cheaper than the 1Ds I got some really good lenses too. Of course, all this wasn't for watch photos. That would be a bit overkill!

Chopps, lot's of choices out there, I'm sure you'll find something you will be happy with. I will say this, If I needed to replace my Canon G2 I'd get a G6 in a heart beat, for around 500 dollars it's a steal.
