I have a student in my class that retired after about three decades at Eastman Kodak, and man... he has some stories to tell!!
He worked with NASA, and his job was to teach the astronauts how to use a camera, and how to take pictures in space. He was telling me that NASA felt that the astronauts were getting "bored" in space, and they noticed a major decrease in the amount of photographs that were taken by the astronauts. So they brought in Kodak people to teach them about photography, in hope that they space dudes will take more pictures.
He has some awesome hard cover books that were issued by NASA to the astronauts that teach you how to take photos in space, and it shows examples of good and bad photographs, tips, ETC.
He also has original sign in sheets for his seminars that he conducted, complete with dozens of astronauts signatures and NASA ID numbers, and even business cards.
Today he showed me a few AWESOME photographs, originals given to him by NASA, depicting space walks, and images of the Earth from the shuttle, the moon, etc. Real photographs, made from the original negatives from NASA!
He has all kinds of neat stuff that he keeps on bringing in and showing me.
I am going to try to get my hands on some of this stuff and photograph it for you guys. With a Speedy next to it, of course.
