Greetings,
I had some time this morning and took a few pics of my MarcelloC Nettuno 3. You don't see that much chatter about them on the watch forums, but this is a high quality watch. No doubt about it. It sports the robust Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement and the rest is German made.
By its appearance one can deduce that it's most definitely a Submariner homage. Same general appearance, coin edge bezel, cyclops for the date, size etc. But that said, it does have it's own qualities that give it its own identity. The corners are rounded over and smooth and the hour markers are quite interesting and unique to MarcelloC. The steel millwork is superb and the bracelet is fantastic. Probably the nicest I've seen on a sub-$1,000 piece.
I know that some of the more snooty watch enthusiasts can perhaps have a tendency to dismiss the ETA 2824-2 movement as strictly bottom-o-the-line (which, when you look at the ETA movement line I suppose they are right), but I gotta tell you from experience - it's accurate and has been very reliable.
I understand that MarcelloC purchases the "elaboreé" version of the movement - which I suppose means that it has some better parts and overall superior finishing. I don't know as I've never taken the back off. All I know is that it keeps superb time. Mine sat in the watch winder for almost 3 weeks and when I took it out to wear it on Friday it was running at only +1 minute. That divides out to about +3 seconds/day. This is not a COSC certified watch, but that's within COSC standards! Can't get much better than that.
This is MarcelloC's bottom of the line watch. I have seen one of their Trident's and it is also quite superb. I've been quite pleased with my Nettuno 3. I think it's a good value and I've enjoyed wearing it.
MarcelloC has a nice line of watches:
