I'm considering getting myself a Tissot Le Locle. I like the design of it, and I have the bonus of an authorised service centre about 10 minutes from where I live. So far I've heard mostly good things about them. Is that the case here?

Hi & welcome to the forum. I have never heard anything bad about Tissot. The only experience I have had with Tissot was with a T-Touch. It's a multifunction quartz watch so not really relevant to your purchase decision....but I was happy with it none the less. If I'm not mistaken, a few of the members here have a Tissot mechanical. I believe they use unmodified ETA movements for the most part, which isn't the fanciest movement out there but it's a workhorse that should provide years of dependable service for you. If you like the Le Locle, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Welcome to WWF. I don't have any first hand knowledge of Tissot but there are two that I lust after, the Le Locle T41.1.317.31 and the T-Sport Seastar 1000.

Thanks for the replies. I'm happy to hear it. I wish I'd done this level of research before I bought my Mondaine, but despite the fact that I was a member of flashlight forums at the time, I didn't think that there might be watch forums as well.

I just took a look at one in the store, the lady was nice and was going to give me a 20% discount on it, which would have put it to $565 Canadian after tax. The face which looked really cool in pictures looked plastic in person, and the thin bracelet made it look even thicker. I guess I'll have to keep looking. On my budget I don't think I can justify that kind of money on a watch I have some reservations about.

Migo, I'm just curious, which Le Locle model did you look at?

I think I would have needed some side pictures to notice. Actually now that I've seen it in person the plasticy appearance is more obvious in the pictures too.
