I had a Nile Trip in Eygpt arriving back on Tues this week. I decided to only take one watch with me and after some deliberation took the Breitling B-1 because of it's functionality. I was extremely pleased with its performance under extreme conditions. I was sunbathing on top deck during midday sun (they do say something about mad dogs and English men...) and the shade recorded temperature reached 45C at times - but with the SuperQuartz thermocompensated movement the B-1 has been a rock solid peformer. With it's 50m wrt spec I was a little reticent to jump in the on board pool - but the heat was too great and I report back there were *NO PROBLEMS* with surface swimming with the B-1 even with the temperature differences between out/in the pool. The alarm was invaluable as a back-up wake up call - especially for the dawn balloon ride when we needed to get up at 5am (on holiday!!) and another trip was a 4.30am start. During midday it was too hot to venture off the boat so most excursions where in the morning or early evening. Night entertainment was on-board. I felt comfident that with the double clasp and lock on the metal bracelet - no-one was going to get this watch off my wrist in a hurry! It's actually quite difficult to undo even when you are doing it yourself! So stealing was not an issue. The slide rule was invaluable for currency conversion setting the xrate on the outer circle against the 10.0 on the inner circle - then just read off the conversion! Pics follow:
