There is a seller about 2 hrs drive away from me who has a Breitling GMT Colt Automatic, black dial, with Professiona II bracelt and extra leather strap. Box and papers. Watch was purchased in April 2006 from an on-line US jeweler for US$1863.75. He claims the watch is pristine and still under the Breitling warranty.
He is asking US$1246
Is this worth the money?
What do you think I should offer him as a cash deal??

Two points: 1. Breitling's (and most other quality watches) are a bit like cars - as soon as the leave the showroom they loose 1/2 their value in terms of re-sale. So the price seems high. 2. He bought from an on-line jeweler and Breitling will not honour on-line bought goods - check their website warning on www.breitling.comBoth these would make me stear away from the deal. But then - if you really want this watch I'd offer him $1000 straight and see what he says - but check the warranty situation as the warranty can not be from Breitling, but may be from the original seller, so check it's transferrable. Good luck - Q) how much do you trust this seller???

I made him an offer of AU$1300 cash which equates to a whisker under US$1000. The offer was conditional on me inspecting the item. I reminded him of the depreciation of some Breitling models and pointed out to him the problems with warranty because here in OZ any warranty is void without proof of purchase from a local Breitling AD. He didn't like the sounds I was making and refuse my offer. I don't think he sold it.
