So, guess what USPS delivered today:
I was way excited to find this one on the bay. I bought it on Friday for a price much lower than I anticipated, and the guy shipped it from NJ on Saturday. It arrived this morning!
I'm not going to attempt to do a professional review, but here are my first impressions.
It is a Seiko Kinetic, 100m. I decided to shy away from the automatics since I won't be wearing this one that often, but I just couldn't get a quartz, either, so I split the difference ;D The power reserve on this watch when fully "charged" will last about 6 months.
It is a very substantial watch. Almost as heavy as the SMP, and a touch bigger case. The bracelet is very nice (although I don't think I can put a strap on this watch. The lugs on the case seem to be located on the inside of the bracelet. Does that make sense?).
I really like the design of the dial. It has the military time on the inside of the dial.
Probably the coolest feature of the watch is the power reserve indication. When you press the button located above the crown, the second hand automatically moves a certain amount of seconds to designate the number of days/months of power is reserved.
The bracelet is huge, so I have yet to wear it. I am looking forward to getting the bracelet sized and using this "beater" watch.
Here's the best part: I show my wife, and of course she asks the question of death: How much? Here's the great part: after I tell her, she says, "oh, that's not a bad price at all! That watch is cute!"
