Ran across some interesting information reguarding servicing, and thought I'd pass it on for those owning or thinking about getting a vintage Rolex.
As some of you may know RSCs in the states seem to be in the process of curtailing support for pre 30xx movements. While this as yet does not seem to be an across the board policy lack of parts and a concern about servicing exotic dials has caused a few problems in the vintage community.
Two independent authorized Rolex repair centers in the U.S. that are still accepting work on pre 30xx watches are located in San Francisco and Chicago.
Both will accept work on vintage pieces to include 1030 cal. movements. 1030 watches are on a case by case basis depending on parts availability, specifically date wheels.
Additionally these centers may or may not warrenty or pressure proof depending on the age of the watch.
Of note, because these centers are independent they are not bound by Rolex pricing policy and tend to charge a bit more. I as yet do not have pricing information. These centers DO use factory Rolex parts and factory trained personnel. Additionally these centers are said to have Rolex polishing equiment.
Addresses for anyone interested are:
