Soo I'm really thoroughly researching my next purchase and leaving no stone unturned! That's my disclaimer for all my recent questions on various watches The research is FUN So Cartier by some are considered a fashion brand and the watch in question does use a modified ETA movement.... so it's horological pedigree may not be up there for some of you guys! That part I get.... The Santos in particular is a special little beast. Much of it's design fits in with what I require in a strap watch. The case curves to the contours of the wrist, it has a unique deployant where both sides of the strap are of equal length and wrap on the inside of the strap, giving clean lines. It's robust and feels great on the wrist. Back to the deployant, its mega coool We all know I love the Panerai but the Panerai don't love me! Is the Cartier Santos 100 going to be a good replacement do you guys think? What are all your thoughts on these watches??? The Cartier Boutique is across the road from my work, I was quite impressed with the entire place. Here's a comparison side on shot of the 100 and the Medium size - shows the case curve and the way the deployant works. The medium is sold with a black strap, not pink as pictured.

Cartier is still a decent watch brand for sure, IMO and I quite like the Santos. It has an understated, sophisticated character and is also much copied the world over. Because of that, it's kind of stealthy like the Panny. Personally I prefer the Roadster over the Santos, but I've had both on my wrist and I really do like them both. I'm actually thinking now about possibly picking up an Omega. Who'da thunk that?

I'm deffo only a Santos 100 fan with maybe a splash of Pasha Chrono thrown in Which Omega dude? Omega bracelets are just fabulous. I love my AT, it's by far the comfiest watch I've ever owned... also starting to realise that it is more sporty than I realised.. so rather than picking out say a Exp2 I've discovered the AT fits that bill just as well (ie sports watch) so the Santos would be an awesome match up I think.

I say if it fits and it smiles at you, go for it. Cartier makes a bee-you-tee-ful watch. I was at a TZ GTG a week and a half ago and a guy had a 45mm PO on a rubber strap. I've been jonesing for this one since it came out and when I tried it on, it fit like an old kid glove.

I think it'd look great on you, for a skinny dude you've got a good size wrist by the shots of the 47mm I've seen!!!

Skinny dude? At 225lbs, I'm far from skinny. I like the black on black since it's a classic look and I already have an Orange Monster. So Amanda, when can we see a Cartier on your numpty wrist? ;D

Amanda--like Johnny said--if the watch appeals to you, and the price is right: go for it! And, Johnny: Here's a little temptation for you (in 42 mm) ;D
