I have no idea why but a couple of weeks ago I had a look at the MKII site and the watches that Bill Yao had to offer. The prices looked good so I decided to go for a LRRP. The watch arrived yesterday and here's what I think.
First up Bill is a great Bloke to deal with, prompt answers and no problem with changing my order once it was placed. 10 out of 10 for service
So a couple of weeks later and the Fedex man delivers a box and inside that box amongst the packing beads was another box and then yet another black box......
11 out of 10 for the package, totally bomb-proof.
So inside the black box are the goodies..
And there are a few extras apart from the black case and foam, a few extra spring bars and a strap changing tool, nice touch.. 10/10 for extras !!
Now the watch, to cut a long story short, it is amazing. I have no idea how Bill can produce a watch of such quality for such a reasonable price. 12/10 for value
Onto the wrist
The "LURP" looks and feels great, the steel band starts at 22mm at the lugs and keeps it going to 22mm at the clasp. One issue that I have with my Rolex watches is the band slims down from 20mm at the lug to about 16mm at the clasp, the Rolex bracelet is a bit weak compared to the watch. My SD at +1200m, is good to depths I'll never go to but the bracelet lets it down. On the other hand the LURP, good for 300m, is not let down by a thin bracelet. 10/10 for the bracelet and it has a divers extension.
Some (even more pretty crappy) pics
It is a fine watch with a score of 53/50!! and fine price!!
At about 1/5 of the cost of a Sub I'm quite happy to give the LURP a hard time and I think it will take it!!
Cheers,
