Hello all,
Although this is probably beneath many of you I would certainly appreciate you helping me locate a watch I used to own. I wore it whilst traveling around the world and ended up getting mugged on New Years eve of 2007 in Brazil of all places.
The bandits took $5.00 my backpack full of SKOL beer and sadly this watch.
It gives me great amusement to think that some Favela rapscallion is running around with my watch as we speak.
Here are the known facts -
1) It was bought at UK store "ARGOS" in 2005/2006 (classy - I know)
2) Black 'ionised' or anodized strap and case
3) Dark blue face
4) Pilot-style bezel with E6B calculator
5) Analogue & Digtial with world times & Dual alrams
6) Buttons at the 4, 8 & 10 o'clock positions but NOT the 3 o'clock
7) No numerals, just bar markers
8) 3 digital windows with illuminated backlight.
9) The digital windows are inverted (as in the Wingman photo below)
10) There was a plain steel version (i.e. not anodized) available also, but I did not opt for that one.
My investigation has lead me this far:
- It APPEARS to be a Citizen Wingman as shown before except that
- It certainly did not cost the same as a Wingman
- There are no western numerals on my watch as there are on the Wingman
- I cannot find a 'black anodized' version like mine was
- So let us assume it is a copy of a Wingman or heavily influenced by the Wingman.
- It is made from a "real" manufacturer hence being sold in a reputable high-street store. (All I mean here is that we can disregard brands like "Xian-zu" and "Fong-maek" - which I just made up.)
- Disregard the large black leather strap you see in the images below as I modified the bracelet to be more rugged and bad-ass.
- I remember paying about 75 GBP for the watch, it was the last one in stock at any Argos in the North of the UK. I was very pleased that I managed to get it.
- For the life of me I cannot remember the brand but the likes of Seiko, Sekonda, Citizen, Accurist, Timex all spring to mind.
- Below are the ONLY photos I have of me wearing the watch, they give precious few details that I have. They are grainy I know, but anything is better than nothing at all.
- I wish I could offer some tantalizing prize for whoever cracks the mystery but alas my respect is all that you will earn.
Ideally I am after:
1) Model number and name
2) High-res photos
3) Price and current availability
4) If you think this is NOT the right forum or there is a better forum to post on - please let me know.
For Comparison: A Citizen Wingman:
