I think that it is a proper watch that was bought for the right reason: to tell time.
A pristine condition of same vintage might be worth more but this one has lived a proper life.

He wanted me to take off the bracelet to show him the serial number. I told him I really didn't want to stick paper clips in his watch with my recent history - He says"You can't mess it up, it's a Rolex."

That bracelet has seen better days. I wonder if Michael Young could refurbish it?

Beautiful, really..!!!
But the bracelet is toast IMHO, he should replace it asap or he might lose it. The watch would look great on a nice leather strap as well

Those rootbeers are beautiful watches, sadly I haven't seen them command the same prices as their sister 1675s. I love the look especially the faded bazel; I agree it would look fantastic on a nice vintage leather nato.

It has a little bit of stretch huh? Reminds me of the Speidel twist-o-flex bands.

Great piece that should scrub up alright. The bracelet's knackered though. I doubt it can be fixed.

I want one just like that. All hanging down and loose.

A beautiful watch with a proper history, always liked the Root Beer colors! I'd get the bracelet restored and keep enjoying it!

He won't get it fixed. That's part of the character for him. I think it's only been serviced twice.

Several years ago we spent a couple of days searching for the bezel after it popped off at work.
