I love mine and will probably go for the bronze version soon. That's awesome. For some reason the bronze doesn't appeal to me as much as other bronze watches do. I really like the Oris Carl Brashear bronze

I don't think I would look at it to tell the time anyways. Hell, I wouldn't even set the time on it

Seiko PADI. I like it. Would have been a perfect summer watch, but definitely still worth it

Wow! I wasn't sure what to expect with no photo and just that link. But that watch really is my cup of tea. Just very simple style, not a lot of complications and beautiful colours on dial, case and strap. And the manually wound mechanical movement. It would be a difficult decision though. The Rolex Day-Date LE Everose Gold is definitely near the top of my list. It would be wonderful to have an all-gold watch. Also this Moser & Cie LE, their "version" of the Apple watch has always appealed tremendously: I think it might end up being this one, though. The Grand Seiko SBGD001 9R01 Spring Drive, with power reserve dial displayed on caseback. Platinum and no date. Snowflake type dial, but probably even more awesome. "This is the very first Grand Seiko watch to have been created by the celebrated Micro Artist Studio in Seiko’s facility in Shiojiri in the Nagano prefecture of central Japan." Even though it is 43mm, large for me, I can see myself making an exception. So very few people would have the slightest clue about the watch, which makes it more appealing. The simplicity of the dial, case/lug design with no date is simply amazing to me. Here is a bit more info on the Timeless website: www.timelessluxwatches.com/brands/grand-seiko/grand-seiko-spring-drive/grand-seiko-sbgd001Better pic: Carl, yes, being time only I never thought I would be so attracted to it. An all gold watch would certainly be nice, preferably Rose Gold IMO

For one $40K timepiece I'd try find someone to discount a Patek Philippe 5726. A beautiful watch, I just would not go for Patek. If I ever did though it would likely be a Nautilus.

I'm going in a different direction. For reasons unexplained these have caught my eye, especially the Type 5. It's over the budget amount in CDN $ but if we're playing with US$ it fits. Ressance are so cool, I don't know much about them as far as movements or anything but the dial layout and idea is brilliant. The most legible watch underwater, right?

I love the gilt print on the dial of this version. In pictures I did not like how the gilt print matched with the red but when I saw it in person I actually really liked it, just goes to show how seeing a watch in person can totally change your opinion sometimes. I know exactly what you mean. I wondered also about the various case and bezel elements as well, but found out when I saw the watch that they actually work very well together. I thought that adding the distressed leather strap might be a bit much, but it also works very well with the watch. The price point is very, very good. Well, I will likely be back there this weekend to look at a Grand Seiko, so will take another look. Since you have made this thread I have been looking at it a lot more. I'm really liking it.. I love when brands make a new piece that gives a nod to vintage pieces.

The $40k range isn't a price range I think of often, but one brand and model always jumps out at me. The Lange 1 in platinum Truth be told, if I did have a $40k budget I'd grab multiple watches in a lower price range I would do multiple watches as well. Great choice though, I would choose Lange over Patek personally any day!

Man, I'll have to give this some thought. It's never been a price range I'm even dreamed about. Well, when I was dreaming of a Grail, it wasn't a $40k watch and the vintage market wasn't rampant with pieced together watches passed off as all original. My Grail is an authentic Rolex Double Red Sea Dweller, which some examples now can reach that range. After looking around a bit, I think a Double Red Sea Dweller would be what I'd try to acquire if I had a $40k budget. Excellent choice

You would never buy anything vintage, we know you better than that. Old and rusty just ain't for you. Now, tell the truth, what shiny timepiece would you really buy? I might surprise you, and I might do it sooner than you think... Sounds like a hint to Rogers next incoming

Nice Choice, Marino! That thing's a work of art... wow! Well, for me this is VERY tough. I'm a fan of Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin BUT the last watches I'll buy will certainly be from Rolex and Audemars Piguet. To me AP is on an entirely different level, Haute Horology that's more suitable for everyday use. That being said, nothing else seems to do it for me but this (on a bracelet, though): Chances are I would go for a bunch of watches with the $40,000 USD budget. Great idea for a topic though, It's always fun participating in these. I would certainly go for several watches instead of one as well, but for the sake of making it hard to choose.. Thats a great choice. I do not tire of AP waffle dials

Hmmm, interested in hearing what you all would choose! This idea popped into my head when I was reading about this Laurent Ferrier Swiss FineTiming Limited Edition Galet Square Vintage America I Watch. IMO this watch is beautiful and as I started reading I got interested, until of course the price was included at the end. $42,700. I still think the watch is absolutely stunning. I'll include the article in case you would like to read it. www.ablogtowatch.com/laurent-ferrier-swiss-finetiming-limited-edition-galet-square-vintage-america-i-watch/
