Dan just emailed me to let me know that my new 5517 will start its long journey on Tuesday. He was also kind enough to send me a drool worthy photo of my very watch. It is these personal touches that add to the specialness of his company and his products. It will be fun to compare the accuracy of the two Soprods. My 9411 is running at a consistent +4/ day. I am very excited. Kat

I think I will grow to love it. It is different than any watch I've had before. It will be nice to have an all black diver. It makes my choice of the blue dial on the snowflake seem like pure genius..... Kat P.S. Here is what a nerd I am.: I was looking at both dials and noticed that, between the two, I have rectangles, squares, circles, equilateral triangles and isosceles triangles, and a diamond......... LOL

Excellent choice, Kat! It's got that modern diver look and almost patina looking hands and markers. Looks cool!

Wow, first one I have seen, love the antique lume, the sword hour hand and the arrow point second hand, gotta say it again, that hour hand is just fantastic and I also like the contrast on the colour of the indices on the bezel. What a beautiful looking watch. Many, many congratulations Kat, thats a beauty.

You know, even the way the bezel is done somehow looks vintage, and works with the dial and everything! And you know how much I love Omega watches! Well, although I haven't seen the new Seamaster, only the pics, I would have a really hard time justifying the Omega after seeing this piece. This one really has it over the Seamaster IMHO. Congratulations! I can't wait until you get it and share the pics with us! Cheers, Carl

A few more pics of my new OWC vintage 5517: I like this one in a whole different way than its cousin. It has more of a vintage feel than the Snowflake. The black dial with the deliberately aged looking lume is striking, and as others have said, I am glad that the bezel lume is lighter. It makes for an interesting contrast, and keeps it from looking too contrived. It is the same exact case as the Snowflake, yet the different dial, hands, bezel, and lume color give it a totally different look. This style seems more refined to me, perhaps because of the more traditional hands, and more typical round hour markers. It has a classic feel, while the snow flake has a more fun vibe, if that makes any sense. At least that is how they affect me. Again, the lume is done really well, both on the dial and the bezel. At a price of $850.00, with the high end Soprod movement, it is arguably the best value out there in a quality sub. Another thing that makes these watches so special,is their exclusivity, along with the very personal involvement of the owner. Everything about the experience of obtaining these beauties is just plain cool..... Kat

I think Omega should have looked at this watch as to how to do aged lume right! Its stunning Kat, stunning! Can't believe you can get all of this with the entry level Seagull movement for just over $500, outstanding value all the way up to the movement you have in yours. Now, where's the Bond NATO shot!

It is coming, Ian. I hear you about the lume. The value here is incredible. It has a really well made case, which is a compressor case. The crystal is sapphire with AR coating. The bracelet is attached to the case with screw bars, not spring bars. The entire bracelet is put together with screws, and includes 2 half links, for an optimum fit. The bracelet is 4 mm thick. Every part of this watch was well thought out, and designed to be a real tool watch. My only apprehension is about the lumed bezel, and wondering how it will hold up over time. I guess I will find out, because these watches aren't going anywhere, except perhaps on vacation, to visit one one of you guys, after the honeymoon is over.....

And on Admiralty grey NATO, which is apparently how the British Royal Navy wore theirs....

Oh Kat, both are great but if it were me I would never take it off that Bond, they go hand in glove, That one really makes the watch for me! The tan in the stripe is almost a perfect match for the lume!
