Thanks guys, I'm gonna leave it as is, I just adjusted the band and now have it on the Oyster and it looks great. I've spent way too much on this watch as it is and I think I'm going to leave something for my wife to buy me for my birthday.

Well, looks like you got the right one this time! Cheers, Carl Yes, Carl, it seems that he does. And make no mistake, I appreciate all the effort he's put into this. I would never had the time or expertise to find this one myself.

I would never had the time or expertise to find this one myself. It does take a considerable amount of time, this was really luck as far as I'm concerned. I was returning the 5508 anyway and just out of curiosity decided to look at their vintage pieces and they had just listed this Sub that day, so I asked if we could trade and they said yes. I never thought I'd wind up with a Red this nice, I had been after a 5512 because I thought that was what I wanted and I remember I always liked my 1680s but they lacked something which this one has, it's not only the red lettering but the amazing patina this thing has, and the fact that I was 5 when it was made simply amazes me, this watch was being worn by its owner all through my childhood in the 70s. Simply a cool watch that I hope to enjoy for years to come. It will look good on my daughters wrist when I'm gone someday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
