I know there was a lot of hype yesterday over the new Apple Watch, but I just don't get it. It has to be paired with the iPhone for most features, so it's not a stand alone device. It doesn't seem to do anything that the phone doesn't. It's $350+ and going to become "vintage" every 6-18 months. Can't say I'm a fan.

LOL.... I have to laugh. I would normally agree with you, but then I also predicted the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad were going to be total flops (these predictions were made after their respective announcements, and before I held them on my hands). Specially for the high price they were asking for them. I ended up buying at least one of each over the years. So based on my predictive skills, I am holding off judgement. I guess you could call me the Steve Ballmer of WWF.

Took a quick look at them. So I don't know a lot about the technical details yet. I see that there is an option for a Mickey Mouse face, though!

That's a very cool option to add the Mickey Mouse face, i'm still not sure if I would wear one.

I don't have an iPhone and never will as I have a loathing of high tech phones in general so this watch is never going to be an option for me. One question about it though I do wonder. Apple keep going on about their special 18k which is more scratch resistant, they do not mention anywhere I have read that it's plating though (perhaps another case of Apple Hype conveniently forgetting to give facts perhaps?). If it is indeed solid gold then who on earth is going to shell thousands out on something that won't be supported and will be redundant in 5 years time?
I do think it's cool but for me the novelty would wear off pretty quickly plus I really loath the direction the world is taking in having its population constantly connected to employers and work, to me it's just one step closer to slavery, well paid admittedly but slavery none the less, always at the beck and call of their masters or customers!

The only thing I don't like is that I might be forced to wear 2 watches; my mechanical and the iWatch. Lol. It looks awesome and I want one, but I agree with Roger that it'll be obsolete once the iWatch 2 comes out the following year.

I see this novelty item from Apple as just another accessory for the iPhone. It's a cool gadget but features targeting only iPhone users? How trendy is that. Apple makes great products, but this iWatch might be a flop. Great marketing Apple.
