Carl, I have a paper gain so far of way over a million dollars for the year in my stock portfolio of biotechnology, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. So I will see what happens by December when my dividends and capital gains come in. The only thing that is holding me back from purchasing the platinum Rolex Day Date 40 is the watch dials. I called the Rolex service centers in Dallas and New York and they told me they will not change out any watch dials. I like the blue dial Roger likes in white gold but I want it with a stick dial, not Roman Numerals. Hopefully Rolex will come out with more new dials by December. This is the dial that Roger likes in white gold, but I want it in platinum in blue stick.

Getting a platinum DD would definitely be the ultimate luxury watch IMO. I really do love that blue dial, it just seems to "pop" on both the platinum and white gold models. I don't think they offer the blue with stick markers, though, even on the white gold model. Personally, I am mesmerized by the dials with the roman numerals, and the craftsmanship that goes into making each one by hand in solid gold. And they manage to design the Roman Numeral markers so that the dial isn't cluttered. They so cleverly put only a single marker at 1,2,5,7,9 and 11. Anyway, perhaps they will add some options for Basel 2018.

Roger, That is exactly the dial I like only I don't like the fluted bezel in the white gold model.

Roger, That is exactly the dial I like only I don't like the fluted bezel in the white gold model. I wonder if you could find an AD to swap bezels? Probably easier to find someone to do that than a dial swap.

Dial swap is easy. A watch maker can do that in 20 minutes.

Dial swap is easy. A watch maker can do that in 20 minutes. And say goodbye to the five year warranty.

For the month of August, my Rolex 116618LN has lost thirty two seconds in thirty one days. I wind my watch eighty turns twice a week, Mondays and Fridays. I wear the watch twelve hours a day. When I put my watch to bed at night I have the watch dial facing up.

I notice a lot of new watch dials on the Rolex website for the platinum Day-Date model
