Nice to see you still enjoying the vintage Rolex market, Steve! I'm certainly no expert here, but buy the seller.
Very likely the dial and hands have been replaced, if not it's remarkable how well kept they are. Any signs of over polishing? The acrylic crystal looks like it is in great shape, probably replaced too at some point unless new old stock. As a piece to wear and enjoy, for the right price range from a trustworthy dealer it might me worth considering.

The case and bracelet appear to have been refinished too, but that’s the way I like them - vintage but in like new condition.

I've been wearing a Zenith Daytona (neo-vintage) for a bit. I'm looking to trade it away. However, I’m questioning my sanity in this situation. It’s a 1999 A-series.

Plexy is not a Top Hat and the 93150 is new. Case worked on a bit, but it’s thick. I think the dial and hands are original though; however, who knows anymore. 🤷♂️

Baco Noir Agreed, for me having a vintage piece that has been refinished allows me to establish my story with the piece and build character. Nicko It's a win-win situation for you really, as many are crazy about those. Not sure what made me suspect it was a Zenith, maybe the subdials. Get what you'll truly enjoy, life is short. For me I'm a huge fan of chronograph watches, so wouldn't sell it. However, I'm a massive fan of dive watches as well, so for the right piece it is worth considering based on preferences. I remember Pete talking about a "Toothpick test" before. Not sure if that applies here, but worth thoroughly looking into all aspects of the piece should you decide to trade it towards something else in the future.

It’s a Zenith, which makes it a tad more desirable. I’m looking to trade it for a Red Sub. I had one a long time ago, I believe it was 2013 or so, and I sold it. I've been after another ever since. Here’s a pic of the one that I had.

I can completely see why you would want to do this trade! This piece is significant among collectors. Although fun, my one issue with chronograph watches that have screw down pushers is the fact it can be inconvenient at times and even a barrier to use.
Having the added protection is wonderful for someone like me who is really into water sports. However, the watches in my collection with the same feature don't get as much wrist time now.
I seem to remember when you had this watch, or one similar to it anyway. The fact that you're looking to acquire something you've already owned speaks volumes of your appreciation for that that seemingly never went away.

So you remember my Red? Wow! Yeah, I loved that watch. Funny, at the time, I thought I couldn’t justify a 9k watch on my wrist. 😂

Haha yes, times sure have changed in that sense! Never expected things to do quickly move in the direction they did. I sort of want a 126610LV but can't justify the premium personally on a modern watch.
The vintage pieces are worth it to have a piece of watch industry history on your wrist it at your disposal to enjoy accordingly.
A neo-vintage piece I'm interested in is the 16600. However, my obsession with chronograph watches has me looking at some other brand options.
I'll just have to live vicariously through you here! And over the years you've had your fair share of vintage Rolex watches.

I’ve stopped flipping for many reasons, primarily because my daughter is pursuing her veterinary degree through a private university, costing me a fortune. Plus, building a new house has taken up the lion's share of funds, and I can’t justify buying more or having more than one watch. My father passed away a couple of years ago during Covid, and that sent me into a spiral of not buying or considering watches that important anymore. I think that made me aware that watches are not that the end all and other things sometimes take priority. I’ll be 59 years old next month, so I’ve got a good 20 years left to play the game; however, I would like to end up with something permanent on my wrist.

I did have a few modern subs that I bought that I absolutely hated. No personality whatsoever. I think I had an old 5513 that I wore the most, and that stayed with me for a good three years. Then the bug hit again. There’s no way I can live with something modern hanging off my wrist, making me look like a rap star-all I need is a diamond-studded bezel 😂

I'm so sorry to hear that, may he rest in peace. Things such as this certainly do put it into perspective of what matters most in life. Happy to hear that your daughter is pursuing this, she's going to do well! And the new house is also fantastic! Honestly, less is more. Having fewer watches you truly enjoy to the fullest (or one) is better than 10,20,30+ where on some cases most don't get any wrist time or have the same level of appreciation. For you the best one watch solution would for sure be a good red Sub.

I had to make two trips back to the United States from Spain to get things in order to pay visit to him. It was very hard I ended up having to say goodbye via Zoom. It was so cold. With my work and everything I wasn’t able to stay until he passed so I ended up coming back. He passed a couple of weeks after. We were never really that close but he was my only connection to the United States. I ended up selling the house and everything. It was really sad. It was kind of my home away from home and I had to let it go. Life turns on a dime. You never know what’s coming next. So this is why we kind of have to live for the moment the best that we can.
