Ok heres the deal. My wife is sick of me buying watch after watch, I'm sure you guys know what I mean. So she says go to the AD get it out of your system and get the watch you really want. As I peeled out the driveway I was going insane. Wow which watch to buy? No no wait which Rolex to buy? What usually takes about 20 minutes to my Rolex AD took about 10. I'm in the door trying on this trying on that, drinking coffee fufu drinks snacking on little cookies letting the girl play with my wrist. ;D So of course with me its comes down to getting the SD or the 16610, really no diffrence at this point just a couple hundred bucks. F it I'm getting the SD. Get out the box get out the papers let me see the serial number, its a D brand new can't get any newer, I'm looking at the hologram the red hanging tag, I'm just about to buy it. Then reality sets in $4,700 no discount plus tax. I say hey how about discount. The manager comes over discount he says you want a discount, buy the watch now and don't pay the price increase and theres your discount. I coulda shoved his head up his a-s, that co-k sucker, hes the same prick I bought my last Rolex from, you'd think they do ya a favor a give ya a little discount, but no way this guy was standing firm. He says look this watch just came in and I'm gonna sell it before the weekend take it or leave it. I left it and went home and bought the 9937 coin, not the same but HEY for $300 I didn't have take in the pooper to get it. Heres some pics like you guys never saw this before.

I feel your pain. For the record there are small discounts to be had here and there. Not to mention that you can get some dealers to ship out of state thus saving you some sales tax. To save even more wonkers, buy used from a reputable on-line dealer or "good guy". I hear a Rolex itch and one of these days you going to need to scratch it man. Congrats on your new purchase. When you get that "bug" again, maybe some of here can help.

When you get that "bug" again, maybe some of here can help. I tried to help...check your email Jim. You are going to keep buying what you don't really want until you cave in and buy the SD. Trust me. ;D

Clifton is right. You will just keep soothing yourself with these "fillers" until you do the deed on the Rolex, or other watch of your choice. There are other dealers out there. Contact them when you are ready. Some actually want to sell their watches, and treat the customer with a little respect. Geez, you had your wife's permission. Sure wish you'd pursued it, both to get it out of your system, and for the enjoyment it would bring you. I wonder how long it will be before you do pull the trigger? But when you do, you'll be a happy man for some time. Looking forward to your future purchase and enjoyment of it!
Cheers to all.

Jim,
Wasn't there a post created by you that went something like "I'm finished with Invicta, those Shop NBC dirtbags...never again..."
I actually think it's a good move what you did, but you're going to buy the Rolex eventually. I have been given permission to do the same, but can't bring myself to do it either. I went and compared the PO to the Submariner, and it got me screwed up. Especially since I know that I can get a firm 33% w/ No Sales Tax on an Omega from another guy named Jim.
I've also been thinking about the 9937. I've got some ideas for one of those though. I think a MKII Milsub dial and hand change would really improve that 9937. I'm serious. I'm thinking about it. If I do it myself, it will give me a little project that will allow me to burn time while I figure out what I want to do.

Thanks for the advise Sam, I do appericate your efforts to help and the advise you give is very useful. Clifton, I never buy used, just not my thing. I do understand some very good deals are to be had in the used market, but I perfer NIB but thank you for your help. I know if I needed any question answered I can always count on your Rolex advice. UDX, its not really fillers I'm buying, I would never buy any watch unless I some what like it. For me its the price of the SD or any Rolex really. I've been there before and know what the deal is with them. Yes their great watches but to me not worth the money, and yes I was very tempted to buy it, but again I just can't bring my wallet to open that wide for one watch. Brian, I did do a post somewhat close to what you said but not exactly. I never have or would buy any watch from Shop you know who or from any TV show, too me thats asking for a bad deal and probably someones elses returned watch. Any Invicta I bought and plan to keep comes from a very reliable source and AD for Invicta whom I have a good relationship with. The biggest point of my previous thread about Invicta is really the cheaper models the Miyota and the Swiss quartz (you can go back a read all the Sh-t), but the ETA 99xx series Pro Diver is the best Invicta makes. I can find no fault in the movement, case, or bracelet, except the screw/tubes, which I don't like, but I suppose with the locktite it really won't give me trouble. I bought the watch based on my past owning numerous ones in this series and have decided the coin bezel 9937 is the best for my choice, I perfer the bracelet on this model as compared to the 9937A which has a slightly diffrent design. Let me please stress this though, with any Invicta you have to watch for the quality, which is something I always demand before the sale. If you buy the wrong one the list of problems can be endless, but if you get a good one or ones the enjoyment can be endless, also I'm not buying it in place of a Rolex but sort of as a alternative to spending a butt load of money. I know they have no CS but that doesn't concern me at this price, I'm just gonna wear and enjoy.

Jim,
My Rolex AD takes the same position - they get few enough of the sports models to sell that it doesn't make sense to discount them. Expecially with a price increase coming.
I've been thinking about getting a TT GMTII - when I went to see one, he had no Subs, SD's or YM's. He did have a couple of GMT's, including a TT with the Jubilee bracelet. They are selling everything they get; wait lists on just about everything (including, now, the TT GMTII with an Oyster bracelet). I'll be lucky to get it without the price increase.
They know they can sell at list, and I can't really blame them for wanting that price (you'll still pay me sticker for a new Z06). Still, he didn't have to be a prick about it. Find another AD and pull the trigger - get what you want.

Pat, I'm still considering it who knows what I'll do, I'm not the most stable when it come to watches. All the ADs around me are snobs and they can be. With me its just the money thing, I have such a hard time telling myself its OK to spend that much on a watch.
