I can't get over how cool that UTC module is! A part of history and a conversation piece.

Baco Noir I'll keep you posted as I've inquired about the product as I'm likely going to place an pre-order. Nicko Back in the day I used to do that too.

The Submariner is as popular as it is for a good reason. It's hard to want much else with one of those. The same is true for all in my opinion, past and present. At least you got to experience those other watches and will enjoy what you now have even more. After that Omega debacle at auction I'm skeptical even for examples such as the above: www.hodinkee.com/articles/everything-we-know-about-the-record-breaking-omega-speedmaster-caught-in-controversyNow this won't always be the case, and a great dealer like the one you found is always the way to go. For pieces like the 16600 I remember when they were new so to me this feels like a small advantage. If I were to start looking at Rolex watches from the 60s etc, I've got no clue.

That's a nice watch! I'm so happy to see various brands embracing the use of materials like ceramic. These watches should age very well.

Maybe something like that brush could make it easier. The one thing I don't see clearly (maybe I missed it or didn't read the description) is if it can be easily refilled.
I'm assuming they wouldn't make something like this which has to be discarded and repurchased each time, but if this can be filled up I'll likely order one soon when they're available.

Yeah, they can be harder to move but agree, this is too similar to the Submariner but can make a great beater watch!
Thanks for letting me know! Not looking to add anymore pieces at the moment, but they could always change. Don't worry though, if someone wants to buy it, go ahead with the sale.

I'm with you on that, Steve. For some reason I would rather spend the six figures on several pieces being added to my existing collection. But like you say, as circumstances change so does our take on this.
This historically significant pieces which are so rare make using them, especially daily someone many (including myself) are less likely to do.

muckymark That's great to know and makes perfect sense. This is exactly how it should be, for sure.

Many years back I remember they gave out free samples on a different forum we all used. Since then I've occasionally used it as a finishing product of sorts for watches and for diamond jewelry it works wonders! I still have quite a bit left here from my last order but see on the website they've made some changes to the offerings and packaging. The product I'm considering (a new one) for trips or for a quick clean is this: www.wristclean.com/collections/watch-cleaning-products

Alright, so this piece is something I'm working toward owning. Given my journey in the watch world this feels like the inevitable next step for me. Despite all of this, a few aspects of this particular model (26470ST.OO.A027CA.01) that have me at times leaning towards getting a 16600 Rolex Sea-Dweller instead and doing something else that's fun with the rest of the money like getting a Jetski (used). A great problem to have, of course, but with me not selling or trading anything towards them both are not an option at the time of this post (it will be one day though!). Here are some images from Google: Now for the aspect of this reference that make me wonder if other options will be better. 1. I'm more of a bracelet person than a strap person. Strap options are great and fun, but in this case cost a lot of money. For me if I'm paying $35,000+ CAD for a watch I would prefer if it came on a bracelet so if desired later down I could get straps as needed. This also has advantages, as it might be more comfortable (at times) and you don't have to worry about scratching a bracelet that was hand finished it has so many fine details: 2. The first image kind of shows this, and the brand has corrected it for the updated versions but the movement looks tiny in this watch case. For me even the watches I own (mostly) with solid case backs it's important to me that the movement is proportional to the case size within reasonable limits. That 22k Gold rotor and details might make me forget this but the gap around the sapphire back seems to be too wide to me: Do I want this watch? Absolutely! It's my new dream piece which will become reality, but what are your thoughts here? Most of the updated models I've seen seem to come on straps now. As always, this part of the process is indeed part of the fun too.

muckymark That's a nice watch, I like that it's got the day and date and overall would make a great everyday watch. How's the bezel rotation on this piece? I only ask because my Seiko King Samurai on both models I own is near impossible to rotate with ease or at all sometimes. Doubt that's the case here but just curious.

This was my first Rolex and I had so much fun with it. Zero regrets though as I'm much happier with the GMT and to be honest, if I had this Explorer II now it would be getting traded towards a 16600:
